Folks;

I just finished extracting and am pondering next year’s foundation choices.
We had a fair to poor honey flow – good for two weeks and then it just
stopped – so I had issues getting foundation drawn. I am not a fan of
plastic frames due to beetles hiding in the frames, the fact that I don’t
have strong flows always, and the propensity for the ‘ears’ to break off
those knock-off Chinese frames I made the mistake of buying from a major
supplier 8 or 10 years ago. I like wooden frames and I have been wiring
in crimp wired foundation in the winter as the bees seem to like wood and
wax and I like the wood. I got a good number of deep frames drawn out on
this flow but they were very fragile and difficult to extract though I
cross-wired with 3 wires. I am going to buy a good bit of deep foundation
this winter and am looking for what is working currently with what is on the
market. I used to use Duragilt and could go back to it. Again, the issue
is short honey flows. Any advice appreciated.
