Hi all
Back in the 1980s I sold a lot of bee pollen retail, about 4000 lbs a year. We had liability insurance, of course. One day, I get a call from some lawyer saying "his client" was in the hospital from eating our pollen. He wanted to know the name of my insurance company. I said I didn't think we were responsible, as there was a warning to be cautious with pollen if you haven't eaten it before, as it may cause an allergic reaction. He replied that was proof we were selling a dangerous product.
I refused to give him any information, so he called the store where the guy bought it and tried to put the screws to them. They called me, and insisted I get this vulture off their back. So, I gave him the name of the insurance company and then called them to tell them the guy was making a spurious claim. They replied that it was up to them to decide how to deal with the case, not me. In the end, they paid the guy's hospital bill. And, canceled my policy.
Pete
