I have more or less given up the use of foundation except for starter strips and find that the bees draw a range of sized of worker cell from 4.9 to 5.4 with an average of about 5.2. I have noticed that I have a range of sizes of bee in the hive and that the hives with a variation seem to do better then those on foundation-based comb. I use a range of IPM against Varroa and there seem sto be less around than there used to be.

Chris
