I think that one of the first things to tell new beekeepers is the
"20 beekeepers give 21 opinions rule". How can anyone understand
what to do if everyone tells them what they heard from that other guy
is crap, do it this way. Your course should show all or many
different ways of doing a particular operation, the pros and cons of
each and what you, the instructor does and why. Try queen excluders
or Imrie shims (or our local "bad" habit of drilling 1" holes in the
handholds of each box for ventilation) for a starter.
