Greg

In western Canada, they're often called "Agriculture pumps" or just "Ag
Pumps" . Will handle some sand or small rocks, bits of plant material,
lumps of sugar, dead bees, etc., without plugging. More common pump
makes are Banjo, Pacer, Honda. Engines usually by Briggs &Stratton
(have improved greatly, but stilll not quite there) or the preferred
Honda (two levels residential or commercial). Check your local farm or
industrial supply or perhaps in your province the mining supply
companies. Out here the oilfield guys carry them (sometimes priced very
reasonable, others......well you need to be selling oil). Princess
Auto did have them.
