What can we say? I looked up the MSDS for a number of chemicals, from the benign to the most hazardous and it seems that the writers have to include some boilerplate like that on advice from their lawyers.
I think I posted an example here not long ago, picking MSDS sheets for formic acid and for isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Interstingly, both have *the exact same messages* about skin contact.
This makes it hard to know what to believe and what not to believe -- and actually IMO increases the danger to users since people get to thinking that a glass of water will come with the same warnings and that they are exaggerated.
