>maps.google.co.uk will not accept the N and W. Use 46° 29.228', 80° 57.660'
And east of Greenwich (UK), and south of the equator, things change.
Sometimes the N and W become S and E
(I expect we'll be hearing from Chile and Oz and other spots as the world turns.)
Sometimes programmes prefer the NSEorW in front of the numbers and
sometimes want a "-" (minus) rather than "E" or "-" rather than "S".
There are quite a few coordinate systems and local preferences, so rather
than getting deep into this topic, let's just refer everyone to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographic_coordinate_system
Map programmes may or may not have settings to allow users to change the
system used, but this is a deep subject and a superficial understanding and
a little tinkering will get most beekeepers what they want.
As for my current QTH, I grew up in this house and am home visiting.
