I don't know whether I'd buy that hypothesis unless you have more supportive
information.
In my own test yard, I bring in queens from all over, and put them into nucs
that have never seen synthetic miticides. Most of the new colonies crash
from varroa, as compared to control nucs that I set up alongside them with
my own queen stock. So no need to blame miticide residues.
