I have made nucs up this year that have almost failed due to mites on their
first brood cycle. Queens were supplied from reputable sources that tout
varroa resistance and yet these 3 hives had severe dwv and high brood
removal.

I have since treated these for personal knowledge with apiguard and mite
away quick strips.

all treated hives are recovering with solid brood patterns.

Out of my 53 splits I made this year 2 original hives and 3 splits have mite
issues. I assume the splits were given infested brood they couldnt
handle...if I only had x-ray vision...

This is the first year I have seen this, and guess what its my third year
beekeeping without treatment... 3 year crash? I hope not hives look healthy
with low mite issues. Especially the russians. I have some of Danns queens
but only recieved them the first of august... Cant tell much right now...
