Hi Aaron and all
Many in western Canada agree with you. In Ontario the border closure
spawned a bee breeding and nuc production industry. I used to keep
bees when packages came across the border but now think that bees
bred for southern states won't do as well here as northern bred
bees. The border was closed because of TM and we have them and
varroa but only recently had SHB cross the border near Detroit.
While the powers that be are trying to contain SHB in the SW they
will likely not be successful. AHB, I believe, is the main reason
now for the restrictions. I understand that shipping bees or queens
from Canada to USA is a bureaucratic nightmare.
