<<Our A.m.m. bees will fly strongly at 8ºC (46ºF) - and we have seen a
queen
mate with an air temperature of 5ºC (41ºF)!
But I would not open a hive if the temperature was below 16ºC (61ºF) - as
we
keep saying, all beekeeping is local.
Best wishes
Peter >>
Mine - hybrids not Amm, but with a fair few Amm characteristics - were
flying strongly today at 11 degrees, bringing in masses of willow pollen.
I'm quite shameless about opening hives on mild winter days; it's
instructive, and I've never seen anything to suggest it did any harm.
Regards,
Robert
