J. Waggle seeks information regarding hydraulic Hive lifts.
I had my Ford 350 stake body truck fitted with a Tommy Gate hydraulic
lift. It has 1000 lb. capacity and has worked great. Other versions
can be fitted to pick up trucks, and I believe the Tommy Gate is less
expensive than the larger gates seen on large box delivery trucks. The
tail gate when open is suspended by chains - it can be just a tail gate
extension, the tails gate can be lowered to the ground or if unchained,
the tail gate folds down perpendicular to the truck. It easily handles
drums of honey, and for pulling honey a pallet is placed on the tail
gate which is raised or lowered to a convenient height. When the pallet
is stacked to the desired height, the tail gate is raised and a hand
truck used to move the stack on the truck. I highly recommend the
Tommy Gate.
Hope this helps,
