We are seeing very strong correlations between varroa infestation, the failure of varroa control methods, and colony failure. Additionally virus loads have been directly correlated to colony failure.
Yet, people want to target pesticide manufacturers for the problems that beekeepers are having with bees. As Medhat says, if you succeed in banning crop protection products, expect retaliation from growers. They may justifiably decide to ban bees within range of their crops to avoid potential beekeeper lawsuits.
What is needed RIGHT NOW is an end to the antagonistic approach toward this problem. Scientific studies cannot be blithely dismissed and we cannot rely on WHAT IF scenarios to guide policy decisions.
