When the bees go into the almonds is not the problem, its the hundreds of hives sitting in the holding yards with nothing blooming waiting for the almonds to bloom so they can be put into the almonds. they use up what available sources are there and then they sit and wait for the next meal to be brought to them and if it rains where they cant get to them you have lots of starving stressed bees sitting there exposed to every virus and bee disease available. that is when it is more like a feed lot.
