One of the varroa reduction methods I use, where appropriate, is to make an
artificial swarm then remove the first sealed brood of both parent and
daughter colony. Then there is the usual range of choices as to what to do
with the 2 colonies: re-unite, leave as 2, make nucs etc. Apart from your
time, the only cost is 2 frames of brood and there are no chemicals involved.
It's not the complete answer but part of my IPM.
