www.premier1fence.com is a great source for bear fencing.
Try the 20B charger with the 165 amp hour alkaline gel battery. It last the whole season plus some if you keep the weeds off.
I've migrated to the new improved model, the "Hotshock" . We have about 70 fences up between northern Michigan and the panhandle of Florida.
I usually put up 3 smooth only crotch high. First wire ground about 4 inches up. Then a hot about 10 inches above that. Then one more hot at about crotch high or so.
If I deem it a battle zone I will add another ground between the two top hots.
You can put barbed wire where the sun doesn't shine.
