"I suspect your deadout, along with the honey had substantial cured pollen in the frames.  At this time of year, adding pollen is not necessary although the bees will consume it reducing their pollen flights.  I'd leave the pollen patty in the freezer."

Excellent point, and you are right.  When I cleaned out those hives they all had lots of pollen and honey.  Forgot all about it.  Thanks, one less thing to worry about.

Black locust ended about a week ago.  Hit during our heat wave, so was fast, unfortunately.
