I was out looking over my hives today and the bees were busy flying, I mean busy. An occasional bee was coming in with a full or partially filled pollen basket as well. The pollen was a light yellow and seemed to be very fine so I don't think the bees are robbing a grain feeding site. We have had yellow mustard blooming for the last ten days and when I checked this afternoon, there were bees busy working the bloom. I'm sure that the mustard has bloomed this time of year before, but this is the first time I can recall noticing it at this time. Usually mustard and henbit start blooming just before Christmas time, if that early. They are in strong bloom at the end of February and in March. Anyway, I was happy to see the pollen coming in.
