With this confirmation of Nosema ceranae (NC) in New Zealand, it begs the
question of how long NC has been around in mellifera bees? New Zealand has
shut off its borders to the outside for many years now. So how did it get
NC? I see in their text that they say Uruguay has had NC since prior to
1990. It makes one think that maybe NC has been around for a lot long that
we presently think.
