I've been having good success putting the queen in the split as I make them.
I usually wait a day in the spring when making large quantities of splits.
Now when I come across a weak queenless colony in my honey production yards
I give them 3 frames of brood with bees from strong hives and give them a
queen right away to save on fuel and labor.
