One sunday afternoon I was bored at the swiming pool of an avocado farm were
I had 1200 hives pollinating. I was enjoying the pleasure of using the house
of the owner of the farm. I had drink some of his scotch, used his suntan
lotion and stupid things like that. I felt fantastic pretending I was him.
Suddenly I remember I hadn't take the plug out of two queen cages. I
decided, because I was proud of my gentle bees, that I could go like I was
(almost naked and with suntan lotion).
I took the 4 wheel motorcycle of the owner and went for those plugs.
Fantastic vehicle, 70 k/h between the avocado lines. Real fun !!.
I had close to 90 hives on two units stands in that road, like 3 meters
apart, facing different orientations to avoid drifting. On all the road
there were hives.
I opened the first hive, then the seccond one on the same stand. Took very
gently the first queen cage and took the cork plug out. One bee sting me on
a finger. No problem. Then I went for that second hive (without closing the
first one).
When I had the second queen cage in my hand, most, many, lots of bees start
to sting me everywhere. Harms, face, legs, everywhere. Luckily I had my veil
in the motorbike. I cover my face, and with great pain I finish what I was
doing. Bees kept on stinging everywhere but my face. I close the hives as I
could, then run as fast as I could with the mbike.
Down the road at 70 k/h passing by many of those hives on that road. Great
pain I was feeling everywhere. I was some two km far from the farmhouse.
Stoped at the end of that road, stupidly thinking that I had left the bees
far back. Took my veil out to check damage, thinking I should take those
many stings out.
Many many bees were over me again stinging everywhere AND my face again.
I run again with the motobike reaching for that swiming pool. I jump with
the bike into the swimming pool.
On monday no one was happy with me but I was sure I was not allergic at all.
In the shower that morning I counted 40 stings still in my body. Many more
were in the bed. I only had some fever during the night and a huge headache
in the morning (most probably cause of the Scotch, I should have drink red
wine instead ;)
