It seems the bees seem to organize their hive to favorably utilize the
cavity size. I sometimes overwinter on1/2 shallow super(divider in middle)
It is amazing to see a cluster come through a period of late winter "teen"
weather in a cluster about the size of a grapefuit-or maybe smaller. The
hive opening(s) are very small-around 3/4 inch and the bees seem to use
propolis and burr comb in a judicious manner.
