For effects upon mites, nosema, viruses, or something else?  EO's may affect
all.

In general, any test should involve at least 12 normalized colonies in each
group.
Your metric would depend upon which of the above you are testing for an
effect on.

However, for practical applications, the two most important metrics are bee
population (frame strength, which would include mortality), and weight gain.
