resistance management vs economic threshold Resistance management is based in resistance prevention, a positive outcome for IPM; however, resistance management goals are not always entirely consistent with IPM goals. The two concepts can ostensibly be at odds. IPM depends on pest prevention and maintenance of pest levels below economic levels. Resistance management, on the other hand, depends on a certain abundance and mobility of susceptible insects in a system.
