I too watched the movie along with many of my fellow beekeepers , we're
about 45 min - hr south from Guelph
and we all know the crowd in Guelph and have dealt with Tibor many times.
The movie was for the folks out there that don't have bees and in a
discussion with the non beekeeper what stood out was to their amazement that
beekeepers can own and truck around 20k hives and "beat them up" stressing
them out ,to the point where their food source has to be supplemented so
that their immune system is not further compromised. This person likened it
to giving a sledge hammer to humans attached by shackles to each other and
told to break the rocks and then only fed bread and water each day.
Remember this guy was a none beekeeper that made the comments. He was amazed
with what Dr. Guzman said and concluded with. His overall comments were
that on the overall it sounded alot like trouble that couldn't be dealt
with because of bad management.
Amongst fellow beekeepers discussion: what bugged the life out of one guy
was the sad condition of the frames that the old fellow pulled out of his
hives. They looked like they were 90 years old also . Sorry no sympathy.
What ever happened to rotating out the old and in with the new on an
ongoing basis.
The film was for the public and well done.
