Bill I am in a zone 4 growing area and about 15 years ago our extension
people re-wrote the Coddling Moth spray schedule. They put out pheromone
traps and found that until the nights temperatures get into the low 50s the
moths are not active. So instead of spraying at pink bud and petal drop
like the old schedule said, we spray mid to late June when the apples are
about the size of garden peas. Instead of 4-6 sprayings/year we spray
twice. The second spray is when the apples are about crab apple size. If
you are in a zone 5 or 6 the timing would be earlier. Check with your
county agent. Hopefully some one from your area will chime in to.
