When I was a young kid and lots of farmers cut corn for winter feed or due 
to dry weather conditions, I remember some cases of cattle death. Cause was 
most likely nitrate poisoning.  Nitrate and aflatoxin poisoning are two 
problems encountered with attempts to utilize drought damaged corn.
