Peter Edwards has mentioned the import of NZ Italians into the UK. Just
because this particular strain of bees eventually turned out to unsuitable for
the UK does not automatically mean that all non-native bees are unsuitable.
Indeed the USA does not have an indigenous type of bee and most of the bee
population there consists of hybrids and because there are no crossings with
the AMM they do not have problems with the agressivety that you experience in
the UK when non native bees hybridise with the AMM that you have there. The
agressiveness comes from the AMM side of the equation and NOT from the selected
other strains.
