I wonder whether, in the ongoing quest to develop varroa tolerant beestock, we're intensifying other pathogens. By increasing varroa loads and letting it cull all but the hardiest bees, we're ending up with a lot of sick and stressed colonies. Surely they make great incubators for disease. Maybe that's a good thing and the bees will sort it all out. Or, we'll end up with the emergence of a new, even more virulent pathogen.
