Peter's comment about having a gardenway cart is my method of avoiding heavy
lifting. The cart acts as a platform which is about at the same level as my
lowest box, so I never have to bend over, but just swing the boxes over to
the cart. I also extract at the end of July and the late fall, so the
numbers of supers stay in the reasonable range. I do use deeps for brood
(bought some mediums but decided that they would require more manipulation
than deeps) but I seldom rotate them in the spring and can examine them by
Peter's method of bringing another deep out where I put the examined frames.
That way I get to the lower box with zero lifting. Usually, in the early
spring, they are fairly light anyway, especially the bottom box, so not that
big a problem.
