In reading this thread it reminded me of the purple loosestrife  episode. In
some states, Ct among them, this invasive species would take over any wet
area. I liked it because it was pretty and created a honey flow that came in
handy. Since it choked out native plants and closed off waterways, it was a
threat. To counter it, a specific beetle was imported that came from the
original home of the plant. Apparently it eats only loosestrife and then
dies off. This makes an elegant point; I'm not exactly sure what it is.
