> Paraffin from Mann Lake costs $1.59/lb.

Paraffin is a petroleum byproduct. Last i purchased was from Amoco petroleum
in Springfield. Missouri. The price goes up and down with the price of
gasoline. Also different temperature grades.
Years ago ( many years ago!) I carved "dip & carve" candles. Even did a
stint dressed in 1800's garb at a candle shop in Silver Dollar City in
Branson, Missouri.
When all my fellow candle makers started dying from a rare form of cancer
( the doctors said was related to breathing paraffin fumes) I stopped making
" dip & carve" candles. I still have a 10 color vat and around 400 pounds of
paraffin in the north shed catching dust.

Ps. I prefer to buy directly from the
manufacturer. If the volume I need is not of interest to the manufaturer
then I go together with others and we then buy in bulk.
