A caution: Be sure that the sawdust is no warmer than the incubator where cells are stored. That is about 95 degrees F max. People worry about warmth and forget that heat can be an enemy, too.
Cells are far more sensitive to heat --even a few degrees -- than to chilling.
Cells often get a bit chilled in nucs due to being mounted too high, and go on to do OK.
Cells which are overheated are ruined.
