We've had it on the East Coast since at least 1985. Don't know when it
arrived in Calif.
In response to queen failure, it appears to have increased independent of
miticide use, although it also appears that miticides exacerbate it.
Hard to tell in my own operation (no synthetic miticides for going on 9
years), as I also keep mite levels lower than I used to. But I have fewer
queen problems than most.
