Using only one or two shallow  honey supers, and more frequent removal of 
honey, rather than waiting for a huge job at the end  of the season??

Spoken as one who gave up altogether when the work got too heavy

PS   If you look at a whole room full of beekeepers (both men and women) you 
will see a basic physical resemblance among them, even without the 
requirement for the beard.  (some of us would find it impossible to comply 
with this one!!  VBG)  And most will be wearing glasses!!
