well, the data to support this is all over the place. in addition, one might consider the source of fumigillin (which is used to treat nosema a. and nosema c). this is, of course, an antibiotic harvested from the fungus that causes stonebrood. more data to support the fact that microbial culture and the bees in the hive work as a complex adaptive system, and that they seem to have co-evolved in a way that supports one another.
