wonder if the wet summer weather had anything to do with it. After I
removed the supers at the end of August I requeened and in the process
of killing the old queen I noticed bees with the tell tell signs of
Varroa. Deformed wings. Anyone else noticed an increase?
Yep. Which is why I had to treat early. Sounds like we had the same
conditions you had.
There were a lot of beekeepers who lost hives during the year because
there was just no nectar and lots of swarms and absconding,
Then, about the end of August when I had given up on the year, good
weather came and went from empty supers to two to four deep in a
heartbeat. Pulling them tomorrow.
