Juanse, DWV is similar to sacbrood virus in that bees can be infected, but
the colony is asymptomatic. SBV has long been the most common bee virus
worldwide. Most beekeepers erroneously think of it as a brood disease,
since that is the only symptom that they see (sac brood).
In reality, it is more commonly an adult bee disease, present all year, as
opposed to its normal appearance in the brood only in springtime.
