Nothing to roar about, Bob. Most sorts of parasite resistance (especially
active resistance) incur costs. To the bees, it's all about cost vs
benefit.
If you're always there to rescue them with miticides and antibiotics, then
resistance is not worth the costs.
However, if there is no beekeeper there to rescue them, then the benefit of
resistance may well outweigh the cost.
