They may do, or it may already be dormant in the hives, but it doesn't
seem to spread that easily. The worst outbreak ever recorded in the UK,
involving over 100 hives, only affected a single beekeeper. The disease appeared
to have been spread largely by the beekeeper rather then the bees, or it
would have affected other peoples' colonies in the area.
