I am a bit confused over all the posts on Imid and how it has killed off so
many colonies.
My confusion is, from a scientific point of view, we should see the same
thing happening year after year, since there has been no change to the
pesticides use or formula, and its distribution has increased!
All of this has been noted here on the BeeL, so it must be true.
Why are there not more kills?
Instead, we find that some who have spoken out against it seem to be doing
well, especially since they started using off-label treatments for Varroa.
Plus, there seems to be not a single US documented kill from Imid. Back in
the day, we had pesticides which we did document bee kills convincingly here
on the BeeL, but nothing on Imid. With those pesticides, there was a clear
relationship with application and bee kills. That seems to be missing with
Imid.
So if Imid's use is increasing, and Varroa treatment seems to keep the bees
alive, what happened to Imid? It still should be completely wiping out
colonies including the beekeeper's who said it was the CCD cause on 60
minutes. Nothing has changed except Varroa treatments, and they would have
little effect since every one of those who said they suffered kills from
Imid said that Varroa was either under control or there were no mites at
all! They all are experienced beekeepers so they obviously knew what they
were talking about.
Very confusing.
Also, I still have not received a response to my question as to why there
are no small cell packages from major package providers. Seems it would be a
gold mine. Totally baffled since small cell works so well for any kind of
bee. Definitely a no-brainer. But not one post, except Allen, who was very
unhelpful.
Please help, especially if there are any wise Jedi's out there. You're my
only hope.(No Darth Vader or Allen, please).
