>How best to use this in hives is topic of ongoing work.
Hi All,
The emails are flying between Dr Cramer's lab and me : )
Please be careful about extrapolating lab experiments to field use. By all
means experiment, but be aware that there are often large differences
between in vitro tests and field application.
Since no field trials have been yet run, the best we can do is to see what
beekeepers who have experimented have found. That is why I questioned Bob
Harrison about whether he tracked actual spore counts when he sprayed on
bleach solution. That would be the kind of field data that would allow us
to make recommendations.
Dr. Cramer is currently experimenting with other "natural" sterilants that
may be more effective and easier than bleach.
I know that it is frustrating to wait, but that's what it takes to get good
data.
In the meantime, let your stored combs freeze, as that has been demonstrated
to kill most N ceranae spores.
