Perhaps a bit of cautions is due here, the satisfactory number of drones for 
the colony must not be reached before attempting to remove drone brood for 
trapping or drone incentive may have been satisfied with little to remove. I 
would think perhaps safest to remove until needing drones for mating? 
Probably some experimenting necessary.
