Hi Chris and all
The Ontario Beekeepers Association Tech Transfer team, commonly
called the Bee Girls, found N Apis and N Cerana fairly widespread
throughout the province. Their recommendations included fumagillin
treatments of all hives and acetic acid fumigation of deadout combs
and boxes before reuse. Dr Ernesto Gusman, of the OBA and U of
Guelph, recently encouraged our local group, Dufferin Beekeepers
Assoc, to fumigate all brood combs including those of live
overwintered hives as acetic gets the spores whereas fumagillin does
not.
