...i have a niece and nephew who have many severe food allergies. interestingly, cucumbers are a problem...but pickles are not. (and yes, i know not all pickles are fermented).
since it is often stated that eating pollen does not cause an allergic reaction, i wonder if it was simply too fresh, and had not been fermented yet.
this is pure speculation on my part, but it is an interesting area.
