This would seem to be self-evident. I don't think it is if you factor in the
mites. Swarming, absconding and shutting down brood rearing often--
correlate with natural mite control. They also make the bees less usable for
commercial purposes.  Continuing to select for production and gentleness
instead of mite control could be negative.
