I am told that the honey is indistinguishable outside a laboratory (but
honey judges might not agree!); however the reason that Mellifera and Cerana
became mixed enabling transfer of pests was that Mellifera tends to be more
productive than Cerana, hence the incentive to move Mellifera in to Cerana areas.
