Hi Bob and all,
As a matter of fact, I have noticed crawling bees from hives. What I
observed was bees crawling toward the East. Where I most noticed was at a
yard where hives were facing the South. Another yard the hives all face the
East and these crawling bees were all headed East. I have other yards that
are not smooth terrain in front, so I do not notice crawling bees there to
see what direction they are going. However, as soon as I can remember when
there, I will start looking. If you look closely, you will see something
wrong with these bees. Old worn wings, or DWV.
I told a beek that has been a keeper for all his life with his dad, until
his death, and is still going very strong. He said he never noticed the
direction they were crawling. He is a beek that is very observant to
everything is his yards.
Lionel
