Hello All,
I have said repeatedly on BEE-L that the *quickest* spread of a beekeeping
problem has always been with package bees ( and at times queens). I think
Peters post supports my opinion.
Although a commercial migratory beek might be in your area if his bees are
not within a few miles you are not likely to pick up problems except from a
swarm .
A package (and queens for certain issues) are injected right into your bees
without quarantine. I raised salt water fish for most of my life (not now as
I travel often ) and always quarantined a new arrival till I was sure the
fish carried no problems.
"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"
I know a beek was not the first to make the statement but could apply to
beekeeping.
