In addition to all the information which recommends bees for pollination
of sunflower, I see a note in "A Guide to managing bees for crop
pollination" recently published by Canadian Association of Professional
Apiculturists, that the new hybrid strains of sunflower are
self-fertile, and require no insect pollination.
I don't know what the conclusion is based on.
